Threshold House, Azpitia Valley

Project type

House

Date

February 2025

Location

Azpitia, Perú

Threshold House is conceived as a meeting point between architecture and landscape, seamlessly integrating into its natural surroundings. Its design follows the topography, shaping the layout of volumes to prioritize views of the Azpitia Valley and enhance the relationship with the land.

Developed during my time as Lead Designer at Polilinea, the project’s design strategies aim to create climate comfort and minimize environmental impact through construction systems that incorporate organic materials such as wood and rammed earth bricks. These choices not only optimize thermal performance and energy efficiency but also celebrate local building techniques.

The boundaries between built space and landscape dissolve through in-between spaces that act as habitable thresholds, extending the home experience beyond its physical limits. These spaces enable fluid transitions between indoors and outdoors, fostering a deeper connection with the natural environment.
